The Hope Center is located at 409 S. 5th Avenue at the back of the building.  We are open Monday, Wednesday, Friday from 9:30am-1pm.

Our mission is to live life with individuals who are unsheltered, who are experiencing homelessness & displacement in the City of Wilmington.

We accomplish this through giving individuals access to our life. We believe that people cannot figure out how to rise above homelessness without seeing it lived out; for example, taking these individuals grocery shopping, showing them how to fill out a job application, and showing them how to write-up a monthly budget. However, we also believe that they should be treated like family; for example, inviting them to church, taking them out to lunch, or calling or checking on them. We accomplish this mission through invitation, but we also offer challenge. There are basic necessities that we will always offer individuals in poverty (Food, Warmth, and Basic Healthcare); however, if these individuals want to go deeper then they must meet us half way.

There are a variety of avenues through which this is accomplished. Currently, we meet every Monday, Wednesday and Friday morning to share a meal. The Hope Center Day Center is located in the Basement of Fifth Avenue United Methodist Church at 409 S 5th Ave in downtown Wilmington. In the day shelter we offer Lockers, Wi-fi, and a mail center. The Day center is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday 9:30am -1pm.

We believe that everyone deserves the chance to develop self-worth that then creates stability.

Our goal is to help individuals secure housing, employment and a sense of self-worth.
